What I Do

Deep conversation seeks to make meaning from the circumstances of our lives.

DIALOGUE with an analyst helps us to see beyond outworn habits and assumptions, helps us get to know the invisible forces that shape us. Just as we need a mirror to see the nape our neck, we benefit from the reflections of someone who holds a vantage point different from our own.

Individual Sessions

At the simplest level, analysis involves a dialectic, a meeting of two distinct personalities and a period of ongoing exchange between them. The style and content of the analysis is different in every case; for each person, like every dream, is an enigma, a mystery. I trust in the resourcefulness of psyche to reveal what is necessary for us to consider in the process of its growth and maturation.

Beyond my knowledge and experience, I offer you safety, genuine responsiveness, and careful attention. I suggest that you commit to a regular rhythm of sessions to fully activate the psyche’s capacity to repair and grow. Within the matrix of trust and intimacy that is the analytic container we build together, previously unconscious contents can rise to consciousness and be reconciled.

Jung advised committed involvement by the analyst, who must be prepared not only to walk alongside her patient, but also to offer herself up to the fires of transmutation. In this, I do my best. When both people are willing, the analytic alliance goes very deep, and the transformation can be profound.

If you are interested in entering a period of analysis with me, you are welcome to book a free introductory half-hour meeting.

Please note, I currently work as a diploma candidate under supervision.

Group Sessions

I also offer short-term, psycho-educational groups, centred on a topic of interest. The themes are lenses into our own experience as well as focal points for learning a symbolic approach to life and about Jung’s map of the soul. Participation in these groups requires neither prior knowledge nor long-term commitment, and does not involve personal disclosure. My intention is to introduce some key concepts of Analytical Psychology, to encourage reflection and the exchange of perspectives, and to generate meaningful conversation.

We explore the interconnections of inner and outer, soul and body, psyche and matter. Such investigations may elicit new dream material or a new chapter of internal dialogue – or be simply a stimulating and satisfying way to spend an afternoon.

The current theme is centred on fairy tales; I call it Tales and Tea. For more information see About Fairy Tales.

Topics for future groups include:

Father, Mother, Child: A Family of Archetypes

€         Initiation

€        Soul and Death

€         Containment/Contentment

€         Dream Memes: Archaic and Future Selves. See About Dreams

Please contact me if you are interested in participating in a group, or for more information.

It is always good to have a map and a compass

especially when the destination is unmarked

and seems impossibly far away.
